The property is located on a farm established by the Duncan Family as Duncan's Dairies. The farm supplied Springfield and the surrounding areas with fresh milk and other dairy products.
Duncan opens The Ice Cream & Dairy Products store in this year where all milk products sold come direct from Duncan's own plant and are delivered fresh from the dairy.
Duncan's Dairies merges with Miller-Flounder Dairy of Chester and the site is re-opened in 1943 as Duncan's Ice Cream & Dairy Cottage.
Abbotts' Dairy Company purchases the property.
The Dairy Cottage expands its original menu of dairy products to included pizza, sandwiches, soups, and other foods in becoming a full service restaurant.
Now owned and operated by the Higgins family, the restaurant becomes a local institutions popular for their steaks, pizza, hoagies, and ice cream.
